Building better futures, day by day

I wonder how many people can remember what they were doing 27 years ago?

One day in particular sticks in my mind – a day when I held a child in my arms. I didn't know this child, but I knew that he needed a home, a family and above all, love.

For a year, he lived with my wife and me. After that, we adopted him as our own child. It has not been easy, but we have done our best to be a 'father to the fatherless' and to 'set the lonely in families' (Psalm 68).

God has helped us along the way, and the church has supported us too.

As a church leader in Bristol, I am so pleased with how 'Home for Good' has partnered with the council and churches to find homes for children who need a family. I'm also delighted to see how TLG and Kintsugi Hope seek to reach out to the most vulnerable of our children, just when they need help.

We can all partner together and play our part in this.

Maybe you feel you couldn't foster a child, be a school mentor for a struggling child, or run a Kintsugi Hope wellbeing group for young people. But maybe you could give financially, enabling others to do this?

Of course, you could give directly to any of these great causes. Alternatively, you could donate via the Bristol Churches City Fund. Donating via BCCF channels funds towards a Bristol focus, enables a local blessing, and lays down further foundations in making Bristol a 'City of Hope'.

As a church leader, I want to encourage other church leaders to promote this fund across their congregations.

Let's all contribute towards a Kingdom generosity.
